Broomhedge travelled the short distance up the motorway to Knockrammer Park to take on Oxford Utd.
This match being on the back of two previous league defeats.Broomhedge had a full squad missing only the injured Darren Riddle and had been warming up about 20 minutes before some of the home team had even arrived.
This being how serious the players were taking this match after the last two defeats.
The game kicked off and the first 20 minutes was a very scrappy affair with neither side causing defences any problems.
Then on 32 minutes a free kick on the left about 35 yards out was whipped in by Thompson for Houston to head across goal to the far post were Murphy who right on the line could have blew the ball into the net unhindered only to see him freeze in front of goal and allow the defender to clear, this would turn out to be the most clear cut chance in the whole game.
Nil each at half time.
The second half started with a bit more urgency from both teams.Cummins came on for Broomhedge for injured Houston in midfield and Vaughan came on for the injured Adrian Stevenson.
Oxford made a few changes as well but none of these troubled Green in nets mostly thanks to some top drawer defending from Mark Dougherty in the heart of the Broom defence.
On the 79th min after some fine interlinking play between Cummins and Thompson, ended up with Thompson being tripped in the box by the right back.
Stonewall penalty that Thompson put on the spot and scored his 20th goal of the season. The last ten minutes Broomhedge held firm and dealt with anything Oxford could offer.
A well deserved three points to Broomhedge which put the last couple of results out of the frame and they can now look forward to their next game in two weeks away to high flyers AFC Craigavon.
